Montgomery, AL- Representative Kirk Hatcher released the following statement on the Alabama State Senate District 26 Democratic Primary.

“Yesterday, our community participated in our most sacred duty and returned to the polls to cast their vote in the special election for State Senate District 26 Democratic primary. Thank you to the voters who cast their vote for our message that seeks to move the community forward. I also want to thank my opponents who are good people and public servants who are seeking to do good in our community; thank you for running such good campaigns. Finally, I want to thank all of those individuals who supported our campaign and help us build the vision of a better and brighter Montgomery.

My greatest hope and belief is that light will always drive out darkness. We have to be better and we should seek to do better always. The negative energy we often direct towards each other only mortgages our children to further destruction.

I know only a few things for certain. One such thing is that not a single human being holds the distinction of being perfect, but we are provided the grace to pursue perfection. It is in such a pursuit that my desire is to experience a sustained sense of a beloved community starting right here in Montgomery, Alabama. The special election wasn’t a vote against anyone but a vote to move Montgomery forward and I look forward to building a Montgomery that our children and their children can be proud to call home.”
